This affects all forums.

All forums are affected when I only select some of them.

If I deselect the enable list and just select forums that are supposed to NOT close. All forums show closing.

If I select all the ones that should be on and select all the ones that should be off -- it still affects all forums.

???

My forum is version 4.2.5

Unfortunately I am without access to a computer at the moment so I am unable to investigate this for you. I will update this thread as this changes and I work through my backlog.

Sorry for the inconvenience :(

Sorry for the delay, I missed this :(

Is the Excluded Forums setting working correctly in the AdminCP, e.g. if you change the setting it saves correctly? In other words, is the AdminCP working and it's only the front-end functionality that's missing?

Yes, the settings are saved in the ACP. It does not change the behavior as it should.

Update: I've inspected the code in more detail, and in order to give you an answer I'll need more information. Are you running PHP 7 or 7.1? If so, are there any errors in your server error log pertaining to this mod?

7

What is the location of the log that I should inspect? I mean, are you speaking of a log specific to your plugin or a general log?

Sorry, I couldn't tell you where the error log may be as every server is different. Please contact your server administrator for more information regarding this.

Obviously I know where the server's logs are the question was if there was a specific log for YOUR thing.

You did not say so specifically, but your response seems to indicate that there is not.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. No, our mods don't have a separate error log, all logs would be written to the "regular" error log for your PHP installation.

I do not see anything in the error log that appears to correspond to this mod. All I know is that it WILL NOT allow me to select only some forums for closing. It closes ALL the threads in ALL forums despite only specific forums being selected. I have tried only selecting those to close. I have tried selecting the ones I want closed AND selecting the ones to not close. It does not matter. Every single forum has closed threads.

Please help. I really would like to use this mod I paid for instead of manually closing hundreds of threads (and having to do it every day!).

Sorry, I'm a little bit confused. This mod is free and has always been free, did you download it off another site that asked you to pay?

In either case, can you please PM me with an FTP and AdminCP account so I can look into this further @ your site?

I am unable to replicate this issue @ your site. If I go to the "Interviews & Lectures" sub-forum, old threads are not closed. If I go to "Mark Rippetoe Q&A", old threads are closed.

Can you please provide the step-by-step instructions for how to replicate this issue?

I see you switched to "enabled" and left it that way.

Make sure you are not seeing a cached version of the forum. If you don't clear and you enabled, you'll see the previous version where the threads were not locked. They are locked now.

But threads ARE closed on forums that should not be. RIght now, for example look at the Ends and Pieces forum. Threads are closed even though this forum is not selected: Ends & Pieces - Page 5

Same with the "Interviews and Lectures" subforum: Interviews & Lectures

These threads SHOULD NOT be closed, but they are closed.

Same with the "training" forum. It is NOT SELECTED, but threads are still closed:

Training - Page 11

All I am doing to see the error is looking in forums past 30 days - with a brower that has a cleared cache. When I do, I find that forums are showing closed threads that should not be doing so.

Please note that I turned the thing back off because all the locked threads are a problem for my users.

This problem shows up on all the browsers I have tested: chrome, FF, IE, Brave.

The selection of user groups also does not work...that is, I can't leave the locks ONLY for admin because I see the locks in place for usergroups that are not selected and should not show the locks.

I did exactly as you described: I enabled the mod, cleared the browser's cache and checked the Training forum. It is not closed. Neither is Interviews, nor Ends & Pieces.

Sorry, but unless you are able to find a way to let me replicate this issue I am unable to assist you.

I disabled the mod again after testing.

This is unbelieveable.

When I do the exact same things I get completely different results. I get closed threads on all the forums. I can show you the screenshots, but I am not sure how your browser shows you completely different things than my browsers do.

Are you viewing as an admin or as unregistered?

Went to the forum on firefox. Viewed without logging in and took a screenshot of the forum rules forum. This is one that is set to not ever close.

Address: Forum Rules & Account Help

Next went to chrome, opened the admin panel and enabled the ThreadClose.

Refreshed firefox. As you can see, the threads are closed.

Went back to chrome, turned off ThreadClose.

Refreshed firefox. Now the threads are not closed.

So the threads are open. They are inappropriately turned off when Threads Closed is enabled. They revert as soon as it is back off. Threads Close is closing these threads even though this forum is not selected.

Please try this. It may be that you are looking at areas where threads have been manually turned off instead of these automatic ones.
