Hi Mokonzi,

When I am logged into the forum the £ pound sign looks like a £ but when I am logged out and viewing as a guest the pound sign looks like a sort of diamond question mark

Have a look at this attachment... strange one?

Cheers

HTML Character Set = ISO-8859-1

MYSQL Collation = latin1_swedish_ci

I checked my database in phpmyadmin, and all tables are latin_swedish_ci

Cheers Mokonzi

I've found some comments that suggest it could be the DOCTYPE... what do you have running on your pages?

£ sign not displaying correctly - any suggestions? HTML forum at WebmasterWorld

Some of the alternatives in there work fine. You can use £ to replace the £ sign and it will then always get encoded correctly, but as pointed out, it does more than double the bytes used to create the sign... so it depends on what you want to do.

From what I can tell this doesn't seem to be an issue with Classifieds. But we'll talk through the issue here to be doubly sure that we can find a solution for you and in case it comes up for anyone else.

If you can post the DOCTYPE for the page when loaded as a user and the one as a guest we can see where that might lead us. :)

It looks the same to me?

Looks the same to me as well... hmmm.

Does using £ work properly for both guests and regular users?

This is quite odd now.

It would seem that this only happens on the forumhome page (forum.php) and also on the featured items advert.

All other deployments of the advert are ok?

The £ seems to work though.

Regards
Mick
