Question Credits for real money?

Currently members can use real money to buy credits, but is there a way for members to take their credits and request a cash payment?

Unfortunately not, no

You would need to instruct them to give you their PayPal address and the amount of credits they want to exchange, then manually handle the exchange & payout.

The reason I was asking is because I was contemplating using the credit systems as sort of an "middleman" payment system.

Sellers list items for sale, buyers purchase credits from the site and pay the sellers with credits using the 'transfer' event. The sellers can then widthdraw their credits for real money.

This adds protections for both buyers and sellers incase their's a dispute or scam.

Any chance something like this can be added in the future?

I think you might be better off using the DragonByte Classifieds mod for that - I'm not sure if it supports the site taking a cut of the transaction but Mokonzi would be able to confirm that for you

In either case, vBCredits wasn't designed with eCommerce in mind, so it's unlikely something like this would be added.

At the moment Version 1 of DragonByte Classifieds works by allowing the site owners to set fees (flat rate or percentage) for various things. Classifieds doesn't hold any cash, though we are looking at the idea of allowing it to run with virtual currencies like what vBCredits, vBActivity and vBShop use, but it's still early in the development of that in Version 2. At the stage any full blown escrow service isn't on the cards, but we might be able to make something that would work similarly.
