Hi Fillip H.,

I wanted to know if your product features redirects should you wish to change the way that your links work.

An example.

If I had links like

mysiteurl/this-thread-url-223456.html

and I wanted to change the links to

mysiteurl/forum-name1/this-thread-url-223456.html

Would your modification be able to 301 rewrite that URL so that you do not lose any google ranks?

Not currently, no. That is a planned feature for the future, in which the mod will store all previous link formats you've used for any given URL, and attempt to match the current URL to historical URLs.

For now, I would recommend you do not switch your URL formats unless you're prepared to manually redirect them via .htaccess.

Just knowing that the feature is planned is absolutely awesome!

It means that users will be able to change their URLS around, and be free from worrying about the loss in ranking or loss of pages so to speak in search engines!
