Can you help me with a custom rewrite rule to redirect from forum.php so that the homepage URL will look like this
"http://mydomain.com/" instead of this "http://mydomain.com/forum.php"

I've tried also sorts of settings in custom rewrites in DBSEO and amending rewrite rules in .htaccess without success

You can achieve this by setting "Force Forum Directory Index" to Yes in DBSEO's rewrite setting :)

Thanks - I know and I have that set. I obviously have a legacy issue from VBSEO that is doing something in my .htaccess file to overwrite this setting. Using the custom rewrite does seem to overcome this so I can reset my homepage to "http://mydomain.com/home" for example but cannot get "http://mydomain.com" to work

If you show me the contents of your .htaccess files (if you have your forum in a sub-folder, please also show me the parent folder's .htaccess file) I may be able to find it :)
