I've played it and i'm about half way through, the graphics are stunning, the gameplay is stunning, the monsters look fantastic and the FMV's are breathtaking. i love the battle system although i do miss my old FF7/8 style controll all characters turn based system. they fixed the fatal error of not allowing you to invert camera angles like in FF12 where the X-Axis was inverted and you couldn't change it. The only thing that is kind of annoying with the game is at the start theres not enough gameplay, maybe they want you to know the story first and bombard you with cut scenes every time you've taken a few steps theres another cut scene. amazing as they are this is somewhat distracting and takes away a good chunk of the gameplay element, the start is like you are actually in a movie and you choose what happens kinda thing. it makes you beg for more action gameplay wise. but this stems out later on when theres not so much cut scene and more of what we love. as far as the storyline goes i quite like it. although a little plain its still the bare bones of a fantasy style structure. compared to the storylines of FF7/8/9/10 its a little bland but they poured so much into the game design and gameplay. one thing that you'd expect from Square Enix is their state of the art graphical design, they've always been one step ahead when it comes to graphics, they always beat any other game for style and looks even in the early stages like ff6 and 7 had the best graphics of their time for the capabilities of the machines they were designed for.
Since the Ps3 has amazing capabilities, Square has harnessed its power and really gone to town developing the most smooth and realistic fantasy game i've ever come across. image the graphics of The elder scrolls oblivion combined with fallout3, then times that awesomeness by 10 and your about 1/100th of how amazing the graphics for FF13 are.
