What if I change it to : forum.com/f12/discussion-name-1/?
Will I get 404 errors for the previous URLs? If yes, how can I prevent this?"

if I go on my domain without www (hardwaregame.it) redirect here: hardwaregame.it/forum// with page not found

If you change it via the DBSEO CP, DBSEO will automatically redirect the rules for you

As for the page not found error, could you please PM me with an FTP account so I can look into this @ your site?
