Question "Digital" products cannot be purchased?

I set up a digital product to test my new installation, and it seems like digital products have no way to be purchased in the store? Is this intentional?

I need a product that has renewal terms and can be purchased by the customer (rather than manually assigned a key) in the store, how can I do this?

I've also tried just now using the "attachment" option, still no purchase button. Is it because my user is also the owner of the product?
 
That was going to be my next step; I’d recommend creating and assigning the products to a company user like I do here :)
