I'm very impressed by it. Had a little chat with Kier already... Hoping to work quite closely with them.

Let's just not forget your vB roots. =)

Looks good and I have no doubt it'll be a great product eventually. Meaning, it's probably lacking in a lot of backend areas and configuration, etc. Just because it hasn't been out there to mature yet. I have no plans to switch to it anytime soon that's for sure. Too much time, money and effort put into what I have now to switch, at least until it's had time to mature.

My site has gone through several iterations of board software. We started as phpBB and then went to vBulletin 3x and now vBulletin v4. I'm leery to make another switch. Still, we have custom-made css files and each time vBulletin does their upgrades we have to spend hours testing to make sure stuff doesn't get broken. We're on v4.0.4 and now v4.0.6 is coming out soon.

And securing low userIDs like mine, 313.
204 here ;)
:p 332... xenforo looks like the proper rewrite vb4 was supposed to be.
yup...it is by far superior...even lacking the blog and CMS...which pretty much wreak of FAIL anyway.

I am too...Kier and Mike did a wonderful job.

If you haven't...you gotta check XenForo out...register and test it out. Your members will love it.
vB will always be our home =)
at least as long as they are still in business :p

2 years ago when i was 14 me and a couple of friends made a forum for games and such, friends and I used SMF1, phpbb2 - 3 and tons of others. When i saw NGB i saw the powered by vbulletin and 2 weeks later we had our own little vbulletin 3.7 forum. It was fun to play around, 2 years have passed and my knowledge of vbulletin has grown substantially. Although the only thing which i am incapable of doing is updating the styles or dealing with css errors. When vbulletin 4 came out i was looking forward to it.
Biggest disappointment i ever invested in, well it would be stupid to switch now to other alternatives so now i guess im stuck. My website is atm paused due to their retarded template edits which corrupted my themes.

Im userid 938 on XenForo and the moment it gets released i will buy it. Vbulletin 4 is a huge disappointment and how they ban their users who complain is just unfair.
You guys better be starting making mods for them lol :D

I wonder how much work it will be to port your mods over. Hopefully it won't be as big of a job. But I am sure you guys are creative enough to come up with some kind of framework which will make the developing of mods for both easier on you guys. I'd hate to see you guys over work yourselves lol

Anyway I will be moving my site over to XenForo. Won't be straight away tho (for obvious reasons), but once your mods and other mods have been ported/made that my site relies on, and blogs and a gallery has been made for it, then I will be switching at the speed of light.

I was also wondering when you do bring out XenForo mods :D if you guys will allow us (existing customers) to switch our licenses over from the VB ones to the XenForo ones.

Agreed - + it takes time to build a mod-community the size af what vB is offering. Nevertheless I will be monitoring this software closely.

I'm impressed, so much so not gone to bed... :D

I like what I see, and I like it's speed. I'll be buying it when it comes out for another site I'm developing... and then watch it grow. With Kier and Mike there, I'll be a certain follower. The amount of developers already there makes me think it'll have it's own mod community quickly.

F^%$ vBulletin. F%$@ them in the a%$.

  • “Where’s the road-map.” We can understand people wanting to know the roadmap. Knowing the road-map will add the predictability we all want. I wish I could be VERY precise but I cannot as I do not want to make promises that we may not be able to fully deliver. I am a stickler for keeping up promises. But ... Here is a little preview:
• We just released 4.0.6 and we have begun work on 4.1. Will there be a 4.0.7? Maybe. The changes we made to the development process allow us to move code from one track to a different one. We might package a 4.0.7 release based on how 4.1 progresses.
• 4.1 is coming mid September to mid October. It will contain as cornerstones an improved and re-factored stylevar system with an easier way to customize your board and will also make it easier to upgrade without breaking customized styles. Additionally, we will release a profile customization tool. And finally, a means to better configure your boards and the entry points to it. And no, we are not forgetting bug fixes, including fixes outside of the described features.
• There will be a series of maintenance releases for the 4.1 series. We want these to come fast. They will include bugs at the center of each release, but each will also contain enhancements and features.
• 4.2 is currently intended – but not promised - for mid December to mid January. We have a few features we want to add for that release, however, we are still working on it. And again, it will contain more bug fixes.
Followed quickly by...

“What about vBulletin 5?” vBulletin 5 is underway. I wish I could disclose what it contains because I think it will be very cool and ground breaking. But I can not share with all of you yet what vB5 is. I am so tempted!! Yes ..you can call me a tease.
So every month we'll have to upgrade and then BAM! v5. Which we would have to buy another license for.

I am NOT very f-ing happy about this. We bought our v3 license in August of 2009 and then was basically forced to get v4 in September of the same year. Now a year later they want me to start thinking about ponying up again. Screw them. Registering on XenForo and going to watch it with renewed and greater interest.
