Ok - Which version exactly of DownloadsII does this work with?

I've just installed it - gone to import but it says no version found.

Checking through the import code, it's looking for tables with a dl2_ prefix, however mine are all just dl_.

Changing that doesn't work either as it gets stuck at the next section, which is the folder path - $vbulletin->options['dl2folderpath'] doesn't exist, mine is called ecurl.

I'm running the latest version from here - DownloadsII - vBulletin.org Forum

Ah, I see what you mean about the file names from Downloads II. I'll implement that for the next version :)

Just wanted to understand the uninstall process of the vBDownloads Lite program after using the import process before I screw something up....

After importing from DownloadsII, almost 4,000 new files were created in my existing DLsII "downloads" folder, these are both files and new images with a "_thumb.jpg" ending. Hoping that the uninstall of vBDownloads will delete the files that were created and not delete anything that was there prior to the importation.

Thank You

You should not have configured vBDownloads to write to the same directory as DLsII.

No, uninstalling vBDownloads will not delete any files. You will need to manually resolve this misconfiguration.

Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought I tried to use the import with a different directory than the DLsII one and received an error message something like, can not find a product to import.

I went through the uninstall process and just have a few more questions, I noticed 2 dbtech database tables remaining:
vb_dbtech_downloads_import_category_downloadsii
vb_dbtech_downloads_import_file_downloadsii
Are these safe to delete? I might try to use the import function in the future but using it now creates hundreds of hours of work for me to transfer over from DLsII.

The dbtech folder (dbseo, downloads folders) including all of the "no image" thumbnails are still on the server, just wanted to confirm that these are safe to delete, Thanks.

Thanks for the support and the implementation of the real file names and thumbnail fixes.
As mentioned earlier I really like vBDownloads but won't be converting from DLsII unless the importer can do several more important things which would save me many hours of fixing stuff, the following is just a listing of things that would be nice.

Importer:
Ability to import Screenshots
Ability to import File descriptions
Ability to import authors names, not uploader. These names are listed as "Author" in vBDownloads and are actually the DLsII uploader.
(This was discussed earlier but to refresh, most of the files I have are over 5 years old and were imported into DLsII from postnuke, the uploader of these files are me in DLsII but it allows a real Authors field name to be used as well as multiple authors (collaborations) and they don't have to be an existing VB user.)

Feature suggestions:
(I uninstalled and am trying to remember this stuff, sorry)

A real Authors field, see above, maybe a Uploaders and a separate Authors field like in DLsII.

A file version input field, I have many different versions of some files. DLsII doesn't have this either but it's important to my users.

Ability to download the file without clicking on a separate link while browsing a category, very important if you have 1000's of files.

Ability to see a screenshot when clicking on a thumbnail while browsing categories.
DLsII doesn't allow these either but I found a template hack to turn a thumbnail into a download link, not ideal for me.

minor, ability to edit file upload dates.

discussed earlier, never was able to see uploaded files in the edit pages in Firefox but I installed Chrome and they appear.

That's all I can think of, Thanks for your time.

I'm back, sorry about the reply to a 2014 thread but I was wondering if any of the import from DownloadsII suggestions have changed?
My old postnuke UpDownloads died due to changing php to 5.6, I have about 300 of 1,500 downloads in DownloadsII with Titles, Descriptions, Screenshots and Authors names, can we import them?

I haven't had this installed since 2014 but we are probably compare the programs soon, I'd probably pay for the pro version if we can import the DownloadsII stuff.

I did purchase the pro version to be able to properly compare vBDownloads Pro with DownloadsII both with vb version 3.8.9, I like a lot of features with vBDownloads but some of the importing problems reported above forced me to uninstall it as it would have added thousands of hours of file editing.

DownloadsII fits my needs better right now, all of my files have a thumbnail and full sized screenshot associated with a zip or rar file and assigning authors names (even if they don't exist in vb usernames) is very important, screenshots and file descriptions still aren't imported.

The file sorting system looks like it's either Name ascending or descending and that's it. In dlsII people can sort many different ways. You still can't assign an author to multiple people or one that doesn't exist in vb (unlike dlsII).

Download links only appear if users first click on the dl name, a huge waste of time for users if you have hundreds or thousands of downloads. I couldn't figure out if it's possible to change how many files are shown on each page. Perhaps this is my fault but I uploaded a full size screenshot and couldn't find a link to it from a thumbnail. Another import problem that was fixed earlier returned, A file downloaded as "Cartoons.zip" in DownloadsII after importing to vBDownloads is "58873-Cartoons_3.zip".
