I just tried to update this mod on my VB installation (latest VB) from 3.1.4 to the current release found on vb.org. I got the following error:

This product is not compatible with version 5.0.96-log of MySQL. (Compatible starting with 5.1.0 / Incompatible with 999.0.0 and greater)

Unfortunately, I'm on a shared host and can't change this setting so is there anything I can do to upgrade from 3.1.4 of Thanks/Like? Or, perhaps is there another version I can go to in order to be MORE up to date but not run into this version conflict?

I was trying to get on the latest release as I was troubleshooting an issue. Since Tapatalk now does the "Thanks" feature without me enabling it, I needed to add the button to my site to maintain consistency. I previously only had the "Like" button enabled. As a result I decided to add the "Dislike" as well. Anyway, the notifications we are getting for "Thanks" and "Dislike" were all saying "Username has liked a post in ..." or whatever. Not differentiating between the various buttons. I guess if you have a quick answer to that, I can restore the files back to 3.1.4 and leave things as-is but would love to get current if possible.

Thanks in advance!

If you edit the XML file you can get rid of the dependency, you'll need to turn off the thanks block on show thread and forum home (found in vBOptions) in order to avoid database errors.

I would very strongly recommend you move to a better host (or a VPS) that does not place these restrictions on you, as that version of MySQL is several years out of date and is no longer receiving security updates.

Thank you for the response. Looks like I *can* upgrade to 5.5 with my provider I just need to go through the steps to backup / restore to move. I'll do that based on your guidance instead! Thank you for making me look into it!

Sorry, one more question. I'm on screen three of four :) to purchase the PRO license again but need to know if the dependency on 5.1+ for MySQL is any different for PRO? I'm not able to upgrade to 5.5 with my current host easily I guess as I work through a database migration but still want the features in PRO aside from what you already mentioned. Please advise.

Both Pro and Lite have the same requirements, there's no difference between them in that regard :)
