Problem: Your unsubscribe option in the newsletter toggles the user's status from subscribed to unsubscribed. However, the user is given no feedback. If he clicks again he resubscribes but again gets no feedback or confirmation.
This is not a trivial problem. The user ends up believing the unsubscribe link doesn't work and consequently reports the email as spam (not in compliance with CANSPAM) and the forum ends up on blacklists as a result.
Every couple of months, I have to go and plead with the blacklist databases to remove my IP from their blacklists, explaining that the newsletter is sent only to registered members who have the option of unsubscribing at any time with a link in every newsletter.
It is imperative that the link takes them to some sort of confirmation page at the forum site. It does not have to be complex. It just has to say "You have been unsubscribed".
This is a significant and urgent proble. Please implement it ASAP.
