I need to upgrade my forum. It has almost 8m posts. Are there concise instructions on switching from vbSEO to DBSEO were we to purchase directly the pro version?

Store tab above

Funny, I was expecting an answer like:
1. Yes, there is a readme available that explains steps needed to upgrade from vbSEO and expectations of issues.
2. No, we only offer professional installation services.

Thanks!

dbseo has a program/script that lets you change from vbseo to dbseo I dont know much about it has I have never used it so will let a staff member explain it

There's a detailed readme file in the Pro version with the instructions:
1. Upload the contents of the upload folder to your forum root

2. Open the .htaccess file in a FXP editor, comment out the vBSEO entries and add the DBSEO entries as per the readme.txt file, but not saving the file just yet

3. Disable vBSEO from the vBulletin Products & Plugins

4. Disable vBSEO Sitemap Generator from vBulletin Products & Plugins

5. Import the DBSEO product

6. Enter the DBSEO Control Panel via the ACP side menu link, click vBSEO Import and wait for it to complete

7. Save the .htaccess file edit from the FXP editor

8. Confirm that Forum Home, Forum Display and Show Thread pages load as intended

9. Chmod the ./store_sitemap folder to 077

10. Enter the DBSEO Control Panel via the ACP side menu link, click Sitemap Settings and enable sitemap generation

11. Click the Build Sitemap link and wait for it to complete

Also, I do apologise if the initial reply made you feel unwelcome - Force is not a staff member, he's a customer like yourself and he's generally a great guy. I think he was trying to be helpful and may have come across a little poorly there!

No worries. The intent was there. :)

This is exactly what I was looking for. :)

Two Three questions:
1. In vbSEO I have a hard rewrite for a couple of forums that were renamed. Is this feature available?
2. Do you suggest upgrading forum first or DBSEO first? From 4.2.1 to 4.2.3?
3. 8 million posts, would be best to run from command line?

I will be purchasing this week.

I first thought you were asking where the tab was to find the plugin so you could buy it, I read it wrong this is why I made the 2nd post

We do have custom rewrite rules, is that what you're referring to?
2. Do you suggest upgrading forum first or DBSEO first? From 4.2.1 to 4.2.3?
It shouldn't matter, either way you choose :)
3. 8 million posts, would be best to run from command line?
Are you referring to the Sitemap? If it doesn't build correctly via the DBSEO CP, we do provide a CLI script that can be set up as a server-side cron job.

Say I have a forum named 'Funny jokes' but I want to change the name to 'Humor'.
What are my options?

btw...pro purchased.
If you are using forum IDs in your forum URLs, then you have no problem, the URLs will redirect automatically. For that reason, it's strongly recommended to always include IDs in your URLs such as members, forums, etc.

If you do not, you will need a custom rewrite rule in order to redirect the old URL to the new.

No forum ID in the URL. :(

Am I understanding that if we went to a forum id it would kill my ranking?

Yes, you would most likely temporarily lose ranking unless you were to manually add Custom 301 Redirect rules for every one of your forums. DBSEO will take care of 301 redirects for format changes if the IDs were present at the beginning, but as it stands it's sadly not possible for your old URLs to be redirected automatically.
