Hello,

I currently work for a non-profit who is testing your photo gallery modification for a site we plan on launching shortly. Currently we are using your lite version of this mod however plan on purchasing the full version before we go live. Before purchasing however I had two quick questions that I've been unable to find the answer to.

In our testing we found at times when a user uploads a photos from a mobile device the gallery uploads it incorrectly thus causing the photo to be sideways or upside down. Coincidentally this glitch happens using the default vBulletin attachment uploader as well. By any chance is this issue addressed on the full version or are you willing to attempt an update to fix this??

My second question is on limiting various UserGroups space in the gallery. I see where a UserGroup can be limited to how many photos can be uploaded however I would like to limit the amount of MB each user gets. Is this possible somehow?

I thank you greatly for any assistance you can offer. I really look forward to hearing more about these items as there's little doubt in my mind this feature will be a huge success once we go live.

The gallery isn't designed with mobile in mind, and due to the lackluster mobile support for vB4 (the "mobile style" is a complete joke compared to a proper responsive style), it's unlikely we'll be looking into improving mobile support at this time.

Unfortunately that's not currently possible either, sorry :(

I fully understand about the poor mobile theme. Got thevB license though so I figured I'd give this a whirl. For the issue with rotation, could this be addressed by creating a way for the user to manually rotate the photo before publishing? It has a screen to make edits, could a manual rotation feature be added there?

thank you

What happens if the user rotates the photo on their phone before uploading?

Just tried,
  • The original photo was taken and displayed on phone in portrait.
  • When uploaded the gallery displayed it in landscape.
  • Attempted to rotate from original portrait to landscape on the phone before uploading. Here the photo uploaded in landscape in the gallery.
  • Lastly took original photo in portrait and very slightly cropped the photo before uploading. Photo uploaded in portrait.

Again, many thanks for any effort to can provide! I know the software is many years old but darn it....it still works!

Can you check that the images do not violate your max image size constraints?

They did. The photo was 4032x3024 from an iPhone 7plus. Our max settings were 1000x800. Edited this to 100,000x80,000. Portrait photo was uploaded in landscape.

Another tid-bit if it helps at all,

As I mentioned this same issue affects users when uploading attachments to the forum (not into the gallery) as well. I installed this modification however from vB.org and it appears to have addressed this issue with the attachments. Tried the same photo in the gallery however and it gets uploaded incorrectly??

I'll look into the possibility of adding this to the Gallery mod, but since the Gallery wasn't designed to run on mobile devices, it's not currently considered supported on mobile devices.

Cannot believe I missed this answer! Thanks for any effort you can do. For now I've purchased the Pro Version and we're rolling it live shortly. Thank you.

Are you using an IPhone? I have friend on Facebook with IPhones and a lot of the time it changes the orientation of the image even though the phone shows it correct...
