Hey all, long time customer, even longer time forum poster. As usual, right when I am scouring the net to find solutions for new things for my site, dbTech has already solved them for me. I've got just a couple questions before I go buy lifetime purchases for the slider and navtabs.

1- vbSlider - Simple question: I want to put a slider into the header of a new theme I am working on for my site, and I want it to show up globally for anyone using that theme (I'll have a Lite version of my theme for people who aren't interested). Is this possible or easy to do and if it is difficult can I get help making it work? I want my slider to show either featured content of my choice from my CMS or all recent CMS articles (I haven't decided which yet), is either possible?

2- vbNavTabs - Currently I'm using a huge mess of things to make my navtabs work on my site. I have Tab and Links Manager from Wolfshead Solutions to handle the actual tabs, with dropdowns and the items within those dropdowns. However, because I have to disable so many plugins that normally create NavTabs that disables all the links under them and I have to manually code them into my header with a huge mess of page-dependent code. Does vbNavTabs handle those links for me, or does it only go as far as the Wolfshead product does?

It goes about as far as that, but with the pro version of vBNavTabs you can add a second navbar, which with a few simple edits, you can display the tabs that products inject into the navbar and display them in the second navbar, with all the links still active. You won't have display position available on those, but it is a better way that doing all the sublinks by hand.

bszopi will have to answer you on the slider as that is his mod.

Thanks for the fast reply! So basically there's still no way to disable those extra tabs (or insert them into one of my drop-down menus) without disabling the plugin and removing the links connected to the tab?

Correct, I have not found a way to efficiently do that without breaking something.

I'm probably repeating myself or missing something, but for lack of that ability are we able to make those links within this product and have them be tied to a specific page/script/tab of our own design? Because even that would make it a lot easier for me than having to code it all manually again.

As long as the pages have a php file, you can link to any page. If ya want you can do to the demo site, see the demo site tab in the navbar. Try it out there and see if it is to your liking. BTW the demo site tab is created using vBNavTabs.

Ok, I took a look at the demo site. I made a sample dropdown and then tried to make a copy of that albums tab (which I disabled) under the drop down. The problem is that there is no way to set THIS SCRIPT for something contained within a dropdown menu. I don't need the tab to be highlighted when someone is in it, I just want the THIS SCRIPT stuff to be active when I am in one of those pages so I can tie sublinks to it. If there is any way you can manage that it'll be an instant purchase for me :/ Not to mention it'll save me hours of trying to take a pretty sloppy hack from my old style and remaking it in my new style.

The dropdown tab it's self can not have a THIS SCRIPT, but I can see about adding a THIS SCRIPT to the dropdown items. Or allow you to add sublinks to dropdown items, I already tried that before, but it was a bust, I will look into it in the next version though.

Awesome, I hope you can find a way. I don't care about tabs or dropdown items being highlighted at all (and the dropdown tab itself doesn't need a THIS SCRIPT in any situation I can think of), I just need to be able to tie those sublinks in. If I can do that... well like I said before, instant purchase. :)

If I am able to get it worked out in the next version release I will let ya know.

Putting the slider into the header isn't a default option, but it shouldn't be hard to do, either. If there is a template hook where you are thinking of placing it, it should just be a simple change in a plugin to make it work. As far as the content goes, it is currently set up to allow you to select which CMS sections to pull from, so if all of your featured content is in a specific section, then that will work easily, or you can just select all sections. If you have featured content in multiple sections, there is still a way to do it, but it would be more manual. You could just insert the featured items as custom content, and display them that way. Hopefully that answered your questions.

Thanks bszopi! I've had a lot of trouble trying to get other sliders to work in my header (free ones on vb.org), mostly because they are based in the CMS widgets and it is damned near impossible to get those to load inside the header. One of my problems is that there isn't a specific hook in the location, and I don't know how to make new hooks. If you could either help me figure out how to add a hook and get the slider to load from that, or add in an optional hook that people could add into their own templates, it'd make a world of difference. I mean, I'm already going to buy the slider from here anyway, since I prefer dbtech products to the free half-assed ones on vb.org ;) Think you can help me get it worked out?

I messed with it for a few minutes last night, and couldn't get it to work, but that doesn't mean its not possible. Just for clarification though, you are talking about above the navbar, in the locations of ad_global_header1 and ad_global_header2, correct?

Actually no, it'd be in a custom location in a somewhat unusual theme :p Here's a picture of a mix between my work-in-progress and some photoshop splicing: http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/at...48-survey-results-sneak-peek-sneakpeekbig.png

Basically you can see a slider I was testing before which I could only get to work within the CMS Widget system, which I took a screenshot of and pasted into the location I'd like to put it in my theme. I made the picture to show my members what I've been working on. It's a section within my header template that I have sectioned off for a slider to fit in it, I just haven't managed to make one load there yet.

I went ahead and bought both modifications... because I have such faith in the products that come out of this company and figure it's better to take these conversations to a the paid-help area. I'm gonna fiddle around with them over the weekend.
