I already have a number of DBTech mods, and so far I am happy with them, but I want to run some raffle contests where I give away a product ever 2 weeks, and the only thing you need to do is post in product thread to win, with maybe some text and photo promoting the our site, etc.

And at the end of 2 weeks the system draws 5 winners from the thread randomly, and I as admin somehow know whom has won, or it sends out PM's somehow, and I can also ban certain usergroups from winning, they could still post in thread but it will not pick their post as winning one.

So I was looking at your Awards plugin and I noticed the PRO version recently added this feature:

(Pro) New Contest Type: Raffle Tickets (Thread Replies)

A thread is designated as the "ticket thread".
Each reply from a member is considered 1 ticket.
Optional restriction of how often a member can reply (in minutes)
X number of winners are drawn randomly from the list of eligible winners

So I was wondering if you can give me more details on this function, as I read thru your whole manual online and it does not mention this new feature, and there is no screenshots of it working, etc. and there is no LITE version of it, so before I spend $84.95 I want to make sure the product vBActivity & Awards will fit my needs.

Thanks.

The only way to get usergroups to not be chosen as the winner would be to exclude them from vBActivity entirely, there's no separate usergroup exclusion feature for this particular contest type.

I was thinking the other way, would be to have a forum only for the contests since I am using the 'thread replies' feature and then exclude the usergroups I don't want from posting in that forum as that forum would only contain the contests no place else.

Just wondering more info on this feature before I spend the bucks, and place I can see it working or someone else using that part of vbActivity on another site?

That's a good idea, and would work. Good thinking, Batman!

I don't know of any forums currently running a contest, sorry. Do you have any specific questions?
