Hey all,

I have a good budget to make this site work and looking to purchase whatever it takes to get it running.

I have a paying subscription based board with 3-month, 6-month, and 1-year setup. I'd like to setup a way to pay my users who refer other people based on how many months the user purchases. When the user clicks on a referral link, I'd need it saved in their cache in case the user registering decides to surf around the site then register after. Using paypal would be best.

I was thinking of using vBCredits giving the user lets say 100 credits for a 3-month, 800 credits for 6-months, and so on depending how much the referred user bought. The user can choose to save up or withdraw the credits for cash at anytime (or with a min?).

Example: My 3-month costs $30. I give you my referral link and you buy $30 as well. I get paid $15 for referring you.

Is this possible with your current mods? I understand I may need the pro features.

Unfortunately, paypal doesnt expose an ability for third party websites (non-paypal) to extract funds automatically from your account, so any interested user would need to alert you to his wishes for a payout, and you deduct the credits. Again, this is a limitation imposed by paypal, and for good reason if you think about it.

You can use vbcredits for referrals that only trigger once the referrer reaches a certain usergroup (something from a paid sub) but theres currently no way to vary this based on WHICH usergroup they qualified from (15$ vs 30$ for example)

Ah what a pain. Makes sense.
Now if someone was given the referral link but the user who clicked on it decided to click around the site.. will the referral still be included? Is it cached?

Yes - vbulletin takes care of that for you with a cookie. That functionality is outside of vbcredits.
