Hi Again...

OK, the gallery is now installed on my live site and the advanced user tagging is going on next... Happy man now :)

I am now looking at one or both of the Mail and Newsletter add-on's...

Will these allow me to send text and image based emails to all members or a selection of members, i.e over 10 posts? if so which would offer the best service, i.e bounce and unsubscribe facility?

Been after a decent newsletter package for a while and the basic vB system is just text based...

Stuart

As a heads up, the new version of vBMail (v3) actually contains all the functionality from the Newsletter mod. We offer the Newsletter mod separate purely for those who do not need the additional functionality of the vBMail mod.

If you want bounced mail handling, vBMail is the only one that offers that.

If you only want to be able to send automated "most popular threads" emails (with no manual input required from you), you want the Newsletter mod (or using the Digest feature in the vBMail mod).

If you want to be able to customise the mail content, you need to manually send emails to users via the main "Mailing Lists" functionality in vBMail. There are no restrictions on users based on post count, only the ability for you to set user groups as default subscribed. Therefore, you would need a new UG for users with 10+ posts, and disallowing users from your primary Registered Users group from subscribing to your mailing list.
Doing this would mean you would need to sort out user group promotions before setting up vBMail.

Sounds like vBMail is the way to go :) does this handle unsubscribe? an allow me to add images to the mail?

I suppose if it handles a member clicking unsubscribe that would help and I can initially send to all members....
