I have the same issue...all my Thanks/likes are gone after upgrading!

I deleted some old mods...the problem was the language database table and if you many mods installed then it needs to update all those phrases and that causes the time out. So with uninstalling some old mods and phrases the vBActivity&Awards installation was successful.
