The default mention format inserts a colon after it, once posted. How can this behavior be changed?

Hello, I think this is a bug, but I don't see any similar bugs posted. Every time someone uses a mention in a post, a properly formatted post turns into a block of text when posted. Not very convenient... When will there be a fix?
