Option for Forum to act as a listserv - i.e. posting to a forum by email

I would like an option where a forum could be turned into a listserv where members can post to the forum by email, and for members to have the option to receive email notifications of all posts in a particular forum on a board rather than just receiving notifications of posts for the threads they have subscribed.

For this I am thinking of functionality like what is found in the webcrossing software - where the email facilities are actually built into the software rather than mirroring a listserv as I was suggested in the other feature request. ...this though I suspect would be a lot more difficult than my other feature request.

Very unlikely this would be made part of vBMail, it's completely different from what vBMail is designed to do and likely would be a huge amount of coding work (if it's even possible).
