You should continue developing for XenForo. Forget vBulletin, its going down the hill, It's complete crap now. If you still want to develop for vb4 i understand that, but dont even bother developing for vb5. Please continue developing for xenforo!!!!

That is not going to happen for ant time in the forseable future. Here is a quote from Cosmic on the matter.

For those wondering about our xenForo plans, they are on hold indefinitely. The long and short of it is that when it comes to interactions with us, we've experienced much more negativity than positivity from the community there. The market is tiny and at this point unprofitable and none of the coders have any desire to release work there in order to perhaps build our presence for the future. Why does the attitude of the community matter? This post explains that pretty thoroughly. The thread as a whole does a good job of showing just what the xF community is like, as does this one.

xenForo is going to be huge. The digitalpoint graph showing which forums are porting to which forums show a massive influx of people switching from VB4 to XF. So if DB Tech see VB4 as a viable market, they'll soon be finding XF a viable one. And at the same time finding not many buying VB4 in the first place to sell products to.

I agree VB5 sucks. If you're on VB3 or VB4 and wish to port to VB5, you may as well seriously consider porting to anything else at all because 5 is so different anyway, it makes sense to take the opportunity to port to the most current decent software which is coded very well. Which is XF.

I've also found that any XF plugin that gets massive use ends up in their core product down the line which is awesome because it means the support is there for it long-term and around the clock. Plugins tend to come and go and can be flakey at times. Or cost many times more than the forum software itself, or you're stuck with free versions with dozens of links in footers etc.

XF all the way for me. VB sucks. VB4 isn't even finished and they jumped ship on it to 5. They're money hungry.

When you do an update from 4.2.2 to 4.2.2 PL1, 90% of the update is installing third party affiliate or ad software that they're making even more cash from via your forum. Panjo, Forumrunner (which they obviously now own), Skimlinks, Postrelease - then 10 seconds running through a XML file which is the actual patch you wanted.

Horrible company that's stuck up their own arse too. And not British, which I hate.
