The vB5 versions represent a significant change from the vB4 versions, with almost no code being re-usable across versions. For this reason, there's a small upgrade fee attached to upgrading your vB4 licence to vB5.

so why buyed then some lifetime? nothing into any announcement. very angry about this and be sure other customers think
the same.

You still receive lifetime updates for the version you purchased - the vB3/vB4 version. You will be able to use those forever and receive updates for them forever as well. At no point was it ever advertised, mentioned, implied or suggested that your product would work on any other version of vBulletin.

Our vB5 upgrade policy has been discussed in blogs since September 2012 (which have been linked to in our regular newsletters) since vB5 was in public beta. You can see the original announcement here. Obviously it was impossible for us to make any announcement before then as we were not able to calculate whether or not our mods could be ported or if they would have to be re-written. Sadly it turns out they need to be re-written.

We requested feedback from members in those blogs as well, and the overwhelming feedback was that our plan was fair and reasonable. We can only make decisions on the opinions and feedback given to us. You can see the blog post where we requested (and received) feedback on our pricing plans here. It was all positive.

As you can see we went out of our way to ask for members opinions on our plans, and explained our reasoning as much as possible. The feedback we received all said that the plans were acceptable and reasonable. I know you say we should be sure other customers are angry but we actually ASKED customers and that's not the response we go. If you used a more efficient method of getting customers opinions could you please let me know how so I can see if we may be able to use similar methods in future, as you appear to have received different responses to us.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback,

Cosmic
