I'm not sure for downloads only, but if you make your downloads post a thread for every upload it will notify of the upload

Next question then .... how do i make downloads post a thread for every upload....

Oh i think it might be a pro function

but you can check the admincp/download/manage category and it should look like this

Post To Forum
Please select a forum that you wish to post a new thread to when a download is created. Leave this blank to disable.

and there will be a drop down menu.

also the pro version gives you the option to change the wording of the thread in the admincp/download/settings

your also going to want to make sure the shout box setting are set to post updates from whatever forum you plan on making your downloads post to,,,,just a side thought!
