Hey there, so I have just installed your "[DBTech] vBDownloads v1.3.8 [Lite]" on my forum and everything seems to work well other than the actual downloads themselves.
I can easily upload a file and if I check on the server it comes up as uploaded, once I try to download it this is what I get.

My name, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

At first I thought It was just a case of modifying permissions but after going to adminCp/Downloads/Manage categories and adding all permissions for everyone it still doesn't seem to be working. I also went to every module at adminCp/Downloads/Manage modules and set them all Enabled and gave everyone permissions again. Still no luck.

Appreciate any help you can give me.

Edit:Note I forgot to mention that on my directory for "Path to downloads" i set it to "./downloads" and files are successfully stored upon upload.

Could I get a temp admin account to take a look? It sounds like everything should be set right but you never know :)

For security reasons, we recommend you create a new AdminCP account only for DBTech support, then disable or delete it after we have both confirmed the issue has been solved and there are no further issues. It should ideally be a temporary account created for us only. If we have created an account on your site already, you can optionally boost that account to Administrator and then de-admin this account once the issue has been solved.

If you use a .htaccess password protection for your AdminCP directory, it is recommended that you create a new authorised user for DBTech and remove this user once the issue has been solved.

Please test any temporary accounts you create to ensure that the AdminCP account can access the administrative controls for the product we are assisting you with.

Ensuring this is all in order before submitting the information will significantly speed up the process of assisting you. We will alert you via PM if there's any issues with the login information you have provided.

When sending the PM, for your security you should also un-tick the "Save a copy in my Sent Items folder" checkbox. When the access details have been received, we will delete the PM from our inbox. Ensuring you have not kept a copy of the PM reduces the risk of security breaches.

Thank you for helping us debug our products and allowing us to assist you, we appreciate it

I just did a hotfix on the files that should fix it. Can you try downloading the package again and uploading the files? You don't need to import the xml file. If it works feel free to delete the account you setup for me. Otherwise I'll check the files again.

Tried it and Worked Great!, thanks a lot Dylan. I'l be using this to replace the file attachment system

Many thanks again.

Dylan, is there a changelog floating around for this mod? I find myself modding a lot of things myself, so it would make merging your changes into mind substantially easier! Also, would you mind updating the version even for hotfixes? I downloaded 1.3.8 several days ago, however I still see this as the current version?

What kind of changelog are you looking for? We only keep track of the high level changes that go into the product, we don't do file/code level tracking. I usually do a new release vs hotfix. Hotfixes are usually for cosmetic or small file changes when we don't plan on needed a full bugfix release anytime soon.

Ah, I thought you guys might keep a detailed changelog of the little details.. If nothing like this is available, I suppose I will make due!

nope, bugs fixed and features added is about the only level tracked. I use svn on my dev system and I mark each release so I don't really need to keep file/code level changes tracked.

Hi guys,

Wanted to add that I have just found the same issue - Can upload but not download. I downloaded this mod around 3-4 days ago from here - is it an issue that hasn't been fixed in the currently available files? If so, is there an update due soon that will fix this? Have double and triple checked all permissions, however now pulling my hair out :D

cheers
Paul

toibs Could you please start your own thread as this one has been marked as solved, that way the dev will get a notice about the new issue. Otherwise the new post will go unnoticed.
