Here I was, coming to say there were problems with RackSpace caching that was killing my VaultWiki... there's an update, I update.. No more problems. Excellent work Deceptor! =)

Funny how things in life sometimes work like thatEnjoy!
Hi,
Are the managed folders recursive or do I need to list them individually even if I list the parent folder?
Regarding avatars and profile pics, I hadn't noticed they weren't on the CDN.Boo, this seems like a simple change? I guess I can't just add the customavatars directory to managed folders?
Last, about the attachments. Yeah I had realized after I posted the first time the permission issue. Still, this is definitely something I'd like to overcome. I am thinking out loud --- classifying attachments two ways, images and everything else. Bottom line is, I am willing to cache images on CDN that aren't guest viewable. If someone takes the time to figure out the URL, then they'll end up being able to view the image. Non-image attachments can't exist on CDN due to the permission issue, at least with an origin pull model. Now, back to images, it would basically call for determining if the user has permission to the image before the image URL is written out via php, so if they do have access let's use the CDN URL. For instance, a guest can see thumbnails but can't view the full image on my board. In this case we'd need to not use the CDN URL.
Anyway, no doubt you are a brilliant programmer so I hope you can come up with a method to allow for image attachments to be made available on the CDN. Just looking at the last day of usage since I did the CDN, I am only going to use around 30GB a month, leaving what I estimate to be at least 200GB or more bandwidth "on the table" that could be on the CDN but isn't.
Good job.
Mike
MaxCDN is only $39.95 for 1TB which is really good value and they use SSD which is lightning fast
I just signed up to MaxCDN just now.
I just uninstalled the old CDN (Amazon S3) in the CDN Integration, and I am trying to figure out how to set up the CDN Integration with MaxCDN now ^^
I believe I have to choose the Pull/Mirror one, but from there I am not sure what to do.
I am up to "Your Origin Pull/Mirror URL" What is that? or Where do I get that from/or Set that up.
Thanks.
If you are a member of WHT, you can also use the WHT coupon code to save another 20 or 25% (I forget).
The origin pull URL is like "http://cdn.yoursite.com", it is determined based on your DNS. Then you setup a CNAME in your DNS so that cdn points to the maxcdn address that they gave you when you created the account.
Mike
Thanks for that, I will keep the coupon code in mind for next time
I just set up MaxCDN then, and everything at this stage seemed to have worked flawlessly.
That was incredibly easy (Almost too easy lol)
Question for anyone using MaxCDN: What are your settings in 'Advanced Settings"?

@Deceptor
There is a small confusion in the setup if someone want to setup their own custom CDN domain with azure :
Let me explain
I have setup a custom subdomain with windows Azure : static.mysite.com aliased to mysite.blob.core.windows.net
now when filling in the information to setup the CDN the first box asks for the blub name which is in my case let's say it's called mysite
the third box is asking for the " Blob URL/Azure CDN " which should be static.mysite.com since it's aliased to mysite.blob.core.windows.net
what happened is the VbOptimise concatenate the blub name with blob.core.windows.net in this case ----> static.mysite.blob.core.windows.net
Confused yet!!
My point is the description in the first box should say input your blub name OR your cdn sub-domain So I would know to input static in the first box and not mysite
and the third box should say enter blob.core.windows.net (which it does) OR your site URL in my case mysite.com
So when using custom URLs i get static.mysite.com
I know I confused you but I will detailed it and post it again but I hope you understood when I'm saying
Oh the MaxCdn guys above are correct about MAXCDN you should take a look to automate integration. They are already eying the integration of their service with Vbulletin http://www.maxcdn.com/vbulletin-cdn.php
I looked around for their API but it's not available in their public webpage, perhaps the members/subscribers have access ?! if so forward what you got to @Deceptor !
Although I'm happy with Azure, MaxCdn looks good for video delivery (here is another Idea: a video mod)
MaxCDN doesn't require an API because it's a pull/origin CDN, it will automatically download content so vB Optimise doesn't actually sync with it, it just rewrites content urls to go to the CDN and the CDN provider does the rest. Sort of "on the fly" CDN management.
As for the blub name/url, I don't actually join them together, the API can do that at times but it's untested, I'm presuming you put in your full url & blub name and the result was mycdn.mycdn.blah.com? "blob.core.windows.net" afaik isn't required either, I turned "CDN" online for my account at azure and a new URL popped up (which leads to the same thing), I'm presuming the alternative URL is the CDN-managed one, or it may just be an alias to the main one
Post Thanks / Likeblandt thanked for this post
