How about a option to allow images to be uploaded by the user for avatars.
For those users who are inclined to make their own images.

Maybe have usergroup permissions too...who can do it.

You CAn use your own images, all you need to do is delete all the ones DB-Tech have provided you with by doing so in the ACP and then removing those files from /forums/dbtech/avatars/images/parts/

within that folder just upload your base model in .PNG format and your good to go, so if you want to use monsters/animals all you need to do is make a naked base model and add the parts to each of the folders provided. its dead simple

Wouldn't you just make another base body size, then base your new images on that? Granted, it would mean that you'd have items that looked like crap on the wrong body type, but... so what? If people wanted a weird avatar, so be it. Just my opinion of course, but really... an avatar is about each persons expressions of themselves and if they want to be known as the person with a messed up avatar, why not?

i've requested such a feature that stops certain items being used for the wrong things already. whether it gets implemented or not is a different matter. would be better if you could assign certain items to certain body bases or seperate them somehow so you can't use womens clothes on guys (providing your using different bases for both :P).

Oh ok, I forgot all of the images are the same size, just transparent in different areas.

That's a good idea. If you have two different body sizes, only certain clothes would fit right on each one.

Yup, since DB-tech uses a male AND female character, its dead strange you can kit the male out with female clothes and vise versa, i too want to allow users to use male and female but so far i've disabled females for the time being (and due to the fact i've not made any clothes for them yet XD) This mod has a huge potential to be up there with some of the best mods made.
