When just introducing myself, I have spoken about a new gaming technology to arise that will destroy other gaming consoles. And just today they have discovered a release month for the console.

Gaming in the cloud. No downloads. No installs. No CD's. Just an internet connection and you can start playing your games immedietely.

It works through video compression, just like you are watching a Youtube video. You press keys on your console device and it sends the information to the server and it deals with it in-game.

It would be interesting to see how certain internet connections can withold this.

i don't think it will destory console in all fairness, i mean the only countries with half decent internet speeds are japan and america. here in the UK on average we get around 4MB downloads, hard enough to run a game like say Final fantasy 13 without major lag. Sure its interesting to see how it would work but id say you were over evaluating it when you say it'll destroy other consoles.

I personally hate the idea.

I don't like the fact that if I want to play a game I OWN, I don't own it any longer. I can't loan it to a friend, I can't resell it...

Every action I do, the amount of time I play a game, when I played it, who I played it with, etc... It's really no one's business but mine.

Don't get me wrong, I play all sorts of online games, but those are games that you have to play online with other people. If I want to play Pong... I shouldn't need to be online.

So while I can see this sort of thing happening in the future (where it's commonplace), that doesn't mean I'm not going to go kicking and screaming.

Yeah, that would mean I could play my games at my friends house, but.... so what... maybe if I'm at my friends house, I should be hanging out and BS'n doing something else than playing the same games, I play with them online from my own home anyway. heh

this would also mean saving game data would have to be stored online, imagine how much server space that would take up saving the someons multiple save states, i'd choose a console anyday for games and i really do hope this new way of gaming doesn't take off and fails.
