I have tried the lite version v6.1.0a8 on VB 5.1.4, 5.1.4 Patch Level 2 & 5.1.5 Beta 1. On all 3 version I get this error when a shout it posted.

Error: 200 parsererror.

It appears in a yellow box at the top of the shouts. The shout does appear after but the text entry box does not clear.

I did notice that no updates had been logged since May of last year. I have tried both version from here and from vbulletin.org as that apears to have an update in December.

Are there any suggestions on how I could fix this?

Also if I was to purchase a vbshout for VB5 license would this also allow me to use VB4 version if decide not to use VB5?

Thank you

What language and character set is your forum?

Unfortunately not, though we do sell a "Dual Licence" upgrade if you purchase the vB4 version first. That being said, if you decide to switch from vB5 completely, we would be happy to replace the licence with an equivalent vB4 licence :)

Thank you for the quick reply.

The language English and I am not sure where to find the character set. Everything is now on a fresh install. I wanted to eliminate as much as possible so I performed a fresh install of VB5 today and the only thing I added was VBShout.

The server is running Ubuntu 14x if that helps.

RE: the license. It would only be on either VB5 or VB4 not both. Ideally I would like to move everything to VB5 (from VB3) but a working shout box is essential amongst a few other things.

Could you please create and PM me with a temporary FTP and AdminCP account?

For security reasons, we recommend you create a new FTP account only for DBTech support, then disable or delete it after we have both confirmed the issue has been solved and there are no further issues.

The same applies to AdminCP accounts; they should ideally be temporary accounts created for us only. If we have created an account on your site already, you can optionally boost that account to Administrator and then de-admin this account once the issue has been solved.

If you use a .htaccess password protection for your AdminCP directory, it is recommended that you create a new authorised user for DBTech and remove this user once the issue has been solved.

Please test any temporary accounts you create to ensure that the FTP account has access to the forum files, and that the AdminCP account can access the administrative controls for the product we are assisting you with.

Ensuring this is all in order before submitting the information will significantly speed up the process of assisting you. We will alert you via PM if there's any issues with the login information you have provided.

When sending the PM, for your security you should also un-tick the "Save a copy in my Sent Items folder" checkbox. When the access details have been received, we will delete the PM from our inbox. Ensuring you have not kept a copy of the PM reduces the risk of security breaches.

Thank you for helping us debug our products and allowing us to assist you, we appreciate it :D

Update: I've made a hotfix that should resolve this, could you please re-download the latest version and re-upload the files, then let me know if this works for you?

Yes that seems to be working great now. Thank you very much.

I did just notice there was no smiley button. I do not have it disabled in the control panel. Is this something that can be fixed?

If/when we fully commit to vB5 mods, we'll revisit the old ports and bring them up to spec based on what's possible for us at the time :)

As the ticket has been resolved I'll close this, thanks :)
