Follower User v1.0.0 (vB4) Released!

Pandemikk

Former Developer
Hello,

DragonByte Tech is proud to present yet another addition to our roster of free modifications: Follow User, available immediately for vBulletin 4.x.x.

What is Follow User?
Follow User from DragonByte Tech is a modification designed to allow members to follow one another in different social aspects of the forum. When a followed user completes an action such as a new post or a new thread, the followers receive either an email and/or PM updates based on their preference.

Note: This was created on vB v4.2.0 but I imagine it will work on any 4.x series.

The mod is available here, Follow User DragonByte Tech - vBulletin Mods & Addons or here vBulletin.org.

If you like the product you can show your support by nominating it for mod of the month here, [DBTech] Follow User v1 (vB4) and also please rate it to help cancel out the users who 1 star our mods.

I like the idea of this very much. However I have a small problem. I uploaded the mod and the xml but I cannot see the links in either the "quick links" or the "community" navbar links pulldown. Also, I do not see the branding even though I have it selected to show. I assume there's a problem somewhere. Perhaps I missed a setting somewhere. In the "content type" I selected the desired usergroups and checked off the follow and be followed for each one.

Also, if possible, I'd like to see the "follow me" link in a couple of places.
1- perhaps the postbit for each member.
2- a link under the users name in their profile. Both would do the same thing.

After clicking the follow me link here, it would switch to show "Following This Member" or something to that effect.

Just a thought.
Thanks for the great idea.

Just a heads up, for reporting bugs or feature requests, each should be in it's own thread and posted in the forum for this mod, Follow User as this is just a news release discussion thread, it may not get seen here, so could you please re post in the proper forum.

I didn't see a forum for this mod before. After your post I looked again and noticed a separate section for free mods. I reposted this there.

Thanks for the heads up :)

I see that, but one issue, I stated in the other thread, "for reporting bugs or feature requests, each should be in it's own thread" you still replied to someone else's post, hopefully the developer will see it though.

You're right. I was rushing and mis-posted. I have edited the original post and started two threads, hopefully appropriately, this time.
Thanks again.

Good deal, it helps with tracking and notification purposes to do it that way so the dev get's the proper notice.
