Legacy Lettings sellers mark an item as sold

I am reposting this here as Mokonzi suggested:

Here’s how selling works on our forum:

A seller posts an item for sale.
Buyers send a private message to the seller to arrange payment and shipping privately.
The seller marks the sales listing as ‘finished’.
The sales listing is archived.

Is it possible in Classifieds for the seller to mark an item as sold/finished, and have it archived as a regular sold item without canceling the listing? Or make it so that only the seller could 'buy' their own item with the 'buy it now' button?

Ideally, they’d be able to enter the username of the buyer so that they could both leave feedback for the transaction and have a record of their sales/purchases, but I understand if that can’t be done.

Mokonzi, thank you for your answer in the other thread. You mentioned there could be an issue with payment. A few ideas about handling that:

• Make this only available on items (or categories?) that don’t charge a fee. This way the classifieds could also be used for swaps.

• Or make a status for ‘on hold’ that sellers could use when on holiday or any time they want to pause a listing without canceling. Have the listings be uneditable and go to a separate archive. (On our forum, we’d use it for completed listings, though we’d lose the benefit of feedback.)

• Or have an option for reserve listings. The seller could reserve the item for a specific member, who could buy the item in the normal way. No one else would be able to view the ‘buy it now’ button.

You probably have better ideas, and I am sure whatever you decide to do will be great.
