I am having problems with user groups that I do not have a check mark by for certain categories. Seems they can still view the category. I can uncheck active for the category and it still can be viewed by all. Very confused here, I figured deactivating the whole category that no one could see it.

My understanding is that only user groups that are checked can view a category, am I correct or confused on how this program works?
[Included Usergroups If no usergroups are selected all users can see this category, otherwise only usergroups that are selected will be able to see it.]

I would like to be able to hide certain categories from different user groups, but the way I see it, I cant do this.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

Thanks in advance.

I'll explain how it works, and if it's not doing that we can look at whether there is bug behind the problem. :)

If no usergroups are checked, then the category is visible to every usergroup.
If a usergroup (or more than one are checked), then only users that have that usergroup (or usergroups) in their primary usergroup or membergroups can see the category.

Does that help, or are you experiencing something other than that? :)

I can help with this one as we use a special usergroup for our DB Classies plugin called "Verified Member"

All usergroups (aside from mods and admins) are set in the ACP usergroup setting to NOT be allowed to see the DB Classies. However, the "Verified Member" Usergroup (admins and mods) are set in the ACP usergroup settings to see the classies.

Once a member is verified they stay in the default Registered usergroup and it remains their primary, with the Verified being secondary.

So far no other usergroup can view our DB Classies (they do see the forum tab for it though?) but only mods, admins, and users with the secondary verified can view/use the classies.

If you want I can take some screencaps of our settings or do a quck walk through for you?

Let me see if I can explain what I'm dealing with a little better.

Say I have a user group called New Member and I do not want that group to see the category name "Test Items For Sale". I check admin, supermod, mod and registered users so they can see but I leave New Member unchecked. Well when I do this anyone in the New Member user group can still see the "Test Items For Sale" category. I can uncheck "Active" on "Test Items For Sale" and you can still view it regardless of what group you're in. That definitely make no sense.

I understand if you check nothing then all categories can be seen. But I'm not doing this, I've got other groups checked to view in this example category listing.

Do you following what I'm saying here?

Yes.

Go into your ACP and go to Usergroups. Click Edit on your New Users, Scroll down to the Classies Permissions and deny all of them to that usergroup ;) If you do that, then you dont really need to worry about checking or unchecking those usergroups in the category.

Mine are all unchecked on our forum in the Category option in DB Classies and new users cant see the listings :)

I'll check over the conditions to make sure that there are no bugs lurking behind this issue as well. :)

Yes that would work fine if I wanted to block the entire New Member group from using the Classifieds. I don't want to do that, I just have a few categories I do not want them to see or use and from what I have read this program is suppose to do that.

Touching base to see if you had a chance to look into the conditions yet for any bugs? :)

Found and identified the bugs that were causing this issue and have them fixed for the next update. :)
