I've finally gotten a chance to really work on this mod to hopefully get it to do what I want it to, but I'm obviously not understanding it completely, especially the part about instances. Let me say what I want to do and maybe someone can walk me through it.

We have a bunch of threads in an older forum with restaurant reviews, so the goal was to import them into this mod. But I also wanted to create other reviews of businesses or products or whatever in the future, so I'd like to have a navbar link of "Reviews" and have the dropdown list the different types of reviews.

So I left the default instance as is and created another instance called restaurant reviews, created all the questions, etc. and we put up a few reviews. Worked okay, I guess. But when I imported all the old threads, it put them all in the default instance and of course all the questions are wrong.

My main question is how to set things up like I'd like and how to import the old threads into the proper place.

Thanks for any help with this.

I've checked the code for the importer, and it allows you to choose what instance to import into. Did you choose the correct instance to import into, and it didn't work for you?

I didn't notice an option for which instance to import to, but I can't say for sure that it wasn't there. I'll check that in a little bit.

So am I using instances properly with restaurants as one and business as another?

Okay, there was an option but I didn't pay attention to it.

I tried importing the forum again and selected yes to the cleanup option and now I got a database error. Luckily it's on the test site, though.

Okay, I think I'm getting a handle on this now, but a couple more questions. Where do I look to change the button text colors for "add review" and "subscribe", and how can I delete some of the tags that the importer creates?

Could you post a screenshot of what buttons you're referring to, so that I'm sure I'm looking at the right ones?

Here's a couple of screenshots. One shows the Add Review button as well as some text overflow in the widgets and the other shows the Subscribe button.

Also, I've found a couple of other things. The default display order is Latest Reviews, which is good, but when you import from a forum it puts those reviews, even though they're older, in front of reviews that were created with the reviews software. So I've got 4 reviews created with the reviews software that show on the last page while the 58 older reviews I imported start showing on the first page.

Lastly I'd like to replace that big "Test Review" graphic with something else. I haven't looked but I'm assuming it's on the server in the Dragonbytes/reviews folder?

That's a skin issue, as the Reviews mod uses 100% standard vBulletin code to generate those buttons.

The overflow, you can rename the Front Blocks via the AdminCP :)

I'm not sure what you're reporting here? Are you saying that newer reviews created manually do not appear in front of the imported reviews?

I figured it was a skin issue, just wondering where to look to change it. I think I had changed it a few months ago when I first installed it but I think when I installed the upgrade it changed it back. I think.

Here's the issue. Over the years, specifically from 7-6-08 to 3-3-13 there were about 60 reviews created in a regular VB forum titled "reviews." I installed the DBT Reviews software somewhere around Sept. of 2013 and 3 reviews were created in it from 9-21-13 to 11-12-13. However, when I imported the old VB threads into the DBT Reviews software just the other day, every old VB thread is now listed as more recent than the 3 newer DBT reviews, even though the dates on the reviews themselves are correct.

Since it's just 3 reviews if I could just do something manually to make them appear in the right order that would be great.

Thanks for all your help so far. I really want this to be an important part of our site so I want to do everything I can to get it done right. Once I get it all running like I want I intend to buy the pro version.

At the moment, to save on performance, reviews are sorted by review ID. You can try changing the review IDs of the 3 reviews you've created to be newer than the imported ones?

I don't see a way to edit the ID#. If that's a database edit, I know absolutely nothing about how to do that and wouldn't even want to attempt it. I might be able to coax the guy who handles our database into doing that, if that's what needs to be done.

You need to make sure the review IDs are in the same order as the date stamp column for the sorting to work. So for instance if review ID 5 has a lower date stamp than review ID 1, you need to change the two around.

Do note that this will cause comments on those reviews to no longer be tied to the same reviews. If you have any comments in the system, I would not recommend this. Of course, backing up your database should be done before attempting any such manual adjustments.
