Question What is the function of the "Operator" setting?

I am setting up criteria and want to understand the "Operator" setting. Can you explain the purpose and what it is used for and the difference with the two choices.

It's a choice that was planned to be expanded on with more than two choices. For now, == means equals, != means not equal.
 
As stated, == is equal and != is does not equal.

So for your screenshot example, 1 = true and 0 = false. So if you set the operator to '==' and the value to '1', then the criteria would be true if the user was invited. However, if you switched the operator to '!=' then the criteria would be true if the user was not invited.
