I can't figure this one out -- I'm trying to use the user threads feature. I've set the permissions to be able to edit, close, and delete threads for a particular usergroup in a certain forum using that grid admin panel thing. But users aren't seeing any of the options on their threads.

[Edit - OK, literally 3 seconds after I posted this, a user testing it for me told me:

Well, it does seem to work somewhat... I can edit other people's posts, so apparantly, the rights are there, just the tools are missing.

I only get the same stuff, that I usually have on my own posts (edit, quote, etc).

The User Threads part adds controls to the edit thread page, not the inline and moderator editing tools of the thread in total.

The Thread Admins/Threadmins part gives more of the regular moderator controls.

Does that help? :)

Not really - the users don't have any link to an edit thread page!

(Oh - do you mean from the edit post - > go advanced page?)

Yep - that's answered the question! I was just looking in the wrong place. Thanks!

Cool. Thanks for raising the question. It's always good to do so just in case there are any bugs that have sneaked in that we didn't expect. :)

Hi,
I had the same question and I thought maybe it's better to ask it here than starting the same thread again.
I installed the lite version on a test forum (I'm going to buy a pro if I find what I need) gave this permission to a user group : delete posts and close thread (no edit posts).
Now, users of that usergroup do not see any link or button in showthread page! As they need to delete some posts (not edit) in their own threads.
Woud you please let me know the correct method? Or does this mod can do what I wanted ?

Hmm. I know the problem here. The only way to delete a thread with the User Threads part is by editing the post, that means using the advanced edit on the post. Does that help? As such the two permissions are tied in for you to get the delete part.

Thanks for the response. I was asking about deleting a post inside a thread not the whole thread. Is it still the same, editing and deleting permissions are tied together?
The only problem is that maybe some users abuse this permission and edit the post of the other users the way they like. (worse than deleting a post)

At the moment this is not possible with the mod, and I'm not sure of a way of getting around the need to edit a post for the User Threads option without giving more moderator controls away.

What I would say is that any thread edited by a user using User Threads has a "This Post was edited by Threadmins" message displayed. You could change the phrase to anything you want to inform users that the post has been edited by the thread starter.

Hope this helps.

Thanks matey. Let us know if you have any problems, and any ideas you have for improving it we are always glad to hear. :)
