So it seems the only way I can get my slider to display properly for guests is to have the usergroup permission "Can Download Attachments" set to yes for un-registered users.
Is there a work-around for this or this? I do have some attachments throughout the forums that I would rather members be registered to be able to download.

If the slider is set up to display attachments, then there's no way to work around that unfortunately :(

Then this is the problem. The slider is mainly for guests to give them snippets of what is discussed and just about every discussion thread has pictures. It is the nature of my genre (hunting and fishing).
So this brings me back to the question that you answered above, is there a workaround to allowing guests to download attachments?
Kind of defeats the purpose of a slider in my opinion especially given the slider is integrated with the gallery to show random images.

Will have to ponder what works best for my forum, allowing guests to download attachments and keep the slider or get rid of the slider.

I'd have to dig into the code, but you should be able to remove the permissions check in the query to allow it to do what you want.

Well, I finally got a chance to look into it, and unfortunately I can pick out anywhere that actually checks permissions for attachments. It looks to be a deeper (ie, more built into the core software) permission than what I am checking in the slider. Sorry about getting your hopes up! I'll try to see if there may be another work around, but not sure how long it will take me. My normal job, and family stuff has basically kept me going nonstop lately.
