I wrote this in the vbulletin.org site too, so I hope you are not mad that it is duplicate, but I thought I might find answers in a thread over here, but alas, have not.

Well, I'm a bit bamboozled.

I uploaded files (twice). Installed .xml (twice). Added widget to the cms layout.
I don't see it anywhere on my site and I've done a hard refresh.

I've cruised all the settings to familiarize myself.
For the most part in admin, it appears to have installed correctly. Only thing I don't have based on your preview images is "custom content" section.

I haven't the slightest idea what to try next and I feel stupid.
I have to be missing something simple.

Update: I've been trying things for hours now it seems! I really want this to work. I've bought another VBTech product I love and might consider this one too, but I'm nothing but frustrated.

I actually tried creating a new widget that looks exactly like the one created by the product and it at least shows up a box, but there is nothing in the box. The widget that the product created is right below the blank one you see in the layouts, but it doesn't show on the site. So frustrating.

Update again: I see when I change the widget template name from default to what is inserted in the product widget, the second widget also disappears.

Update again: I searched for the template: dbtech_vbslider and it is there, but when it is in the widget, the widget does not appear at all.

I apologize for my long delay in getting back to you as I really want to get this to work, but I became rather ill, then had out of town company.

Under Manage Instances / CMS Widget Settings

Articles Quantity: 5
Threads Quantity: 2
Blogs Quantity: 2

Could you please create and PM me with a temporary FTP and AdminCP account?

For security reasons, we recommend you create a new FTP account only for DBTech support, then disable or delete it after we have both confirmed the issue has been solved and there are no further issues.

The same applies to AdminCP accounts; they should ideally be temporary accounts created for us only. If we have created an account on your site already, you can optionally boost that account to Administrator and then de-admin this account once the issue has been solved.

If you use a .htaccess password protection for your AdminCP directory, it is recommended that you create a new authorised user for DBTech and remove this user once the issue has been solved.

Please test any temporary accounts you create to ensure that the FTP account has access to the forum files, and that the AdminCP account can access the administrative controls for the product we are assisting you with.

Ensuring this is all in order before submitting the information will significantly speed up the process of assisting you. We will alert you via PM if there's any issues with the login information you have provided.

When sending the PM, for your security you should also un-tick the "Save a copy in my Sent Items folder" checkbox. When the access details have been received, we will delete the PM from our inbox. Ensuring you have not kept a copy of the PM reduces the risk of security breaches.

Thank you for helping us debug our products and allowing us to assist you, we appreciate it :D

I turned off the Enable vBSlider in any Global Template on the CMS setting in the instance, since as per the description this will conflict with the CMS widget.

I then added the slider to your Four Column layout, and it displays fine :)

That was such a simple thing. I did look to see where that setting is so I will know for next time.

Because of my own delay, it has been a while since I've read the instructions. I will look for how to get that black DBTech background off in the posts without graphics.

I understand the copyright may come off if I purchase, so if I can get it looking right, I'll gladly purchase the pro version.

I'm off to play. Thanks for your help and great service.

There's a separate Branding Free licence to the Pro version. You can see it as an AddOn licence on the product page: vBSlider

I'm advancing well on learning the ins and outs, with the exception of how to get rid of that black DB tech background image. I'm assuming it's an image I replace via FTP?

I found the stylevars which is helping.

So the Pro version is $54.95 for lifetime and then there is an additional $75 to remove the branding?

I see with the pro there is "Option to move Copyright location from below slider to site footer," so I may be satisfied with this.

Edit: Okay, I read further and the images can be changed in the Pro version, so I've purchased it and will remove the dragon image from my website. :RpS_laugh:

I've got it looking good. Thanks for your help.

One more question though. It is only showing 4 items. The CMS article is not showing up. Maybe because it is older than the new forum posts? How do I get it to show more than four?

I have articles set to 2, threads set to 2, blogs set to 1, and custom entries set to 2.

It is only showing 0 articles, 2 threads, 1 blog, and 1 custom (as I only made 1).
I really want it to always show the newest newsletter which is an article. I saw it before I upgraded to pro, but not now.
I don't want to constantly repost an article with a new date.

I can't see your settings anymore as the admin permissions for that account has been revoked.

Also, the slider and a lot of other CMS functionality is not working on your site at the moment due to a slew of 404 errors being reported by Google Chrome's F12 developer tools. You may want to investigate that and correct those issues to ensure everything works as it should.

I put the permissions back on your account so you can look at it again. I had thought earlier today it was not going to be needed anymore.

The slider is working on the site when I visit it, but it just is not pulling the articles and it only has four things listed.

Thanks for your help.

Edit: I looked into the 404 errors and they appear to be forum images, but when I look in my hosting, the images are there, so I have no idea how to fix them. The images they are referencing are showing on the page, so I don't know why it says it cannot find them. It does not seem to be consistent errors.

Another error was associated with YahooPipes and a youtube video in one of the blog posts that had been deleted.

Edit2: I added a custom content to an article and it added a 5th content to the slider, but it still is not pulling automatically from the articles.

I'll be looking into this further on your site tomorrow (Thursday) - please leave the FTP and AdminCP access intact for the time being to speed up the process. Thanks :)

Update: I've yet to find a solution to this problem, please have patience a little while longer.

Fridays are notoriously busy for us, as they're release days, so I may not have time to look into it further until Saturday.

Thank you. I was on the site and noticed it change.

Can you please tell me what you did so if I have a site crash and have to reinstall, I will be able to fix it next time.
Or maybe if I accidentally change a setting, I will know what not to do.

It was code changes, so when you re-download the product for any eventual re-install everything will be okay :)
