I've love to have something like this myself, but I think @Decado has said that such things don't really have much ROI. I could be wrong (and it'd be cool if I was), but I don't think I am. I'd LOVE a good RPG and/or battle type mod for my forums.

Ohh yeah, I'm sure there are sites that live and die by various functionality, but that doesn't mean it's worth the cost to produce such a thing. Maybe it is worth it, I personally have no idea. But such things are more of a niche market and that market has to be large enough to support the development costs. Which is something Decado always (and rightfully so) keeps his eye on.

Pretty much what Trekkan said to be honest - projects like games and battle systems take a crazy amount of time to produce - usually 3 times longer than other large mods, and require a host of additional outside resources such as artwork which also tends to cost.

With that in mind it has to sell at least 3 times as well as a similar mod to be worth the time invested - unfortunately since the rise of high quality Free 2 Play type games and MMO this isn't nearly the case anymore and the sell-through rate is actually lower than more broad/generic mods such as a shoutbox for instance.

We do plan on updating our forumon mod to be more customisable for people who are fine finding their own art resources etc and want to turn it into a more traditional battling mod though, so hopefully v2 of it will be able to accomplish what you're looking for
