Hello,

1. Could DragonByte make some sort of a 3rd party/server based mod which could be used by vBulletin forum owners to fully and regularly back up their vBulletin forums on an appropriate 3rd party server away from their main hosting server? Such a facility or a 3rd party/server based mod would surely provide a complete peace of mind to vBulletin forum owners who would then have 100% complete, regular back up on a 3rd party server via a specific new mod?

2. Or, if you do have any such mod or facility in place, or something else in terms of a ready existing, comprehensive, 3rd party back up facility you can recommend, please let me know.

Thanks,

O.H.

This seems to me more of a server thing, not vBulletin thing.

But, for backup, you could use many things, depending on level of access you have for your server. On most shared servers you can install MySQLDumper - Backup your MySQL-Database (e.g. forum, guestbooks and online shops) It will dump your database and you have numerous options for doing that.

Files you can backup by creating directory on your HDD and keep them in sync with what you have on your server by FTP program. This is the most basic, but working solution, as your forum consist of two things: files and database.

You can have more complicated solutions, depending on access to your server (if you have VPS or dedicated server you could use other things). For example, I backup my account using command panel, when I manually backup, I backup files with tar command and database with mysqldump command.

What Alan said - this should very much be done on a server-level rather than vbulletin level :)

inactive buttons

Thanks for that. Can you please clarify this for me - I am wondering if the difference I state below is down to the application of one of your own mods:-

(I am unable to take a screen shot of this) - In your Posting forms where you have buttons above the posting area, in the bottom row, immediately to the left side of the buttons X2, buttons such as 'Insert Column Before' & 'Table', all such buttons are not usable, i.e. they are none of these buttons get highlighted when you take your cursor over them.

But in the forum at vbulletin.com all these buttons like 'Insert Column Before' & 'Table' are all active and get highlighted when you take your cursort over them.

So, as I have purchased many DBTech custom-free mods, and such buttons on my website also appear unusable as is the case on your website, can you please explain why these buttons are alive on the vBulletin form site and not on yours website? Is one of of your mods, or all of them, affecting the functions of these buttons?

How should these buttons be 'activated' for use?

Regards,

O.H.

The buttons highlight for me just fine in the thread, see screenshot:

INCEPTION!

Those buttons will only highlight if you have Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing enabled in your usercp.
