The only issue i've found with vb4 is the one you mentioned - the styling is completely different, so skinning is a bit of a pain in the arse. Other than that I prefer it to 3.X to be honest. I use/admin a 3.8 site and this site daily and I find the 4.x site much easier to deal with.
hmm so far I haven't found much difference in vB4 from testing it in a day or two.. what else feels different or easier? I know a few features here and there, which are easier

eg. multi quote without having to load a new page

I guess that is how it is now these days? We make more resource demanding software, because we have more powerful machines and years go by. I mean FB crashes on my 8 yr old PC LOL, but my 6 month PC handles it like no problem.

I personally enjoy quoting on the same page, revamped templates (developer thing), look and feel of the forums, the new editor, and various small things like moderation tool improvements.

Yeah. Part of it may be that users aren't keeping up with the advancement of technology so they fall behind and thus while things may not run slower for the majority of people it does run slower for them because they aren't upgrading.

Pretty much the same stuff Jon has said above to be honest - just lots of little things that I find useful that aren't on vb3. Oh plus the fact there are more/better DBT mods for vb4 =D
