Vb Ooptimize question about template compression

If you use the template compression does it also turn the templates in the admin CP into compressed so when viewing them(editing a template) its compressed and unreadable?

Obviously that would be a little pointless, so no :) vBulletin stores templates in 2 formats, the plain-text (what you see when editing) and the compiled (what's used within the code). The current compressor strips white-spaces mainly in the compiled templates on your action. If you re-edit templates after you'd need to re-compress via the ACP.

It's done like this so none of this is creating on-demand load when the page is being viewed by users, the small disadvantage is the compression isn't the the best it could be, so it's a little toss-up between bandwidth/server load.
