Thanks/Like to influence search result ranking?

My hope is to improve forum search results. Our forum is about electronics, and there's many really helpful answers scattered across many threads. But the vbulletin search is almost useless. Common terms and acronyms return hundreds of results, with poor ranking.

Is there any chance to utilize the feedback users provide via your Advanced Post Thanks / Like product? Ideally, those too-long search result pages could have their ranking / order strongly influenced by the number of like votes, so the better posts appear at the top of the search results.

Unfortunately that's not easily accomplished. You would need to write a whole new search engine for vBulletin (similar to DigitalPoint's Sphinx search plugin) and configure vBulletin to use this instead of the normal DB search.
