Welcome to the DragonByte Technologies FAQ. This is a collection of the most frequently asked questions about our products and services collated in one place for your convenience.
Q: Who are DBTech?
DragonByte Technologies Ltd is a limited company based in Scotland. Company Number SC397765 with the registered address 118 Maryhill Rd, Glasgow, G20 7QS, Scotland.
Q: What do the license lengths mean? If I buy a yearly license, can I only use the product for a year?
The license length stated (currently 3 month, 1 year or lifetime) is how long you will receive product updates for. You can continue using the product indefinitely after purchase, however you will no longer be able to receive any bugfix, security or feature updates after your license term expires.
Q: Do I have to pay extra for support?
We provide free support for all users – both lite and pro. Purchasing the professional versions of our products ensures you receive priority support. Please note that support is still a free service provided, and you are not paying for it.
Q: My forum's language is not English. Will I still receive support?
Yes, but please keep in mind that the support agent in question may not speak the native language of your forum. We'd appreciate it if you were to provide an English language option (at least, temporarily) so that we can navigate the product pages successfully.
Q: What are Loyalty Points? How do I get them? What do I use them for?
Loyalty points are our way of ensuring our customers get the best deal possible. You earn loyalty points with every purchase you make and the more loyalty points you have, the more of a discount you get from every qualifying purchase. In addition when you reach certain loyalty points thresholds we give you free DBTech Dollars – money you can spend on any product on our site at any time.
Q: What versions of vBulletin do your products work on?
The majority of our products are vB4 based, with a growing number available for vBulletin 5 connect, and a number available for the legacy vBulletin v3.x – each product is different and you can see the available versions in the product description.
Q: Will my vB3/4 product/license work with vB5?
Unfortunately due to the huge changes between vB4 and vB5 your vB4 products will not work on vBulletin v5. You can upgrade your vB3/4 license to a vB5 license at any time for small fee of 25% of the cost of a new license. For most products this tiny cost will be in the $10-15 range. In addition, you can purchase a vB5 license for any product you already own a vB3/4 license for at half-price – this lets you have two licenses you can run on two separate sites.
Q: Do you undertake custom work?
We are able to offer custom coding services throughout most of the year, usually provided by either our programming director and DBTech Co-Founder Fillip Hannisdal, who has over 8 years experience in coding for vBulletin, or Dylan Wheeler our Development Team Leader who has over 9 years experience in coding for vBulletin and has worked for companies such as Cingular Wireless and Hewlett Packard.
