DBTech News
Big news this week is the Beta release of our latest mod: vBSecurity. We've seen a number of security mods over the years and felt that they were all very narrow-focused, and intended to deal with pretty specific types of thread. In our experience social engineering or malicious staff/former staff are as likely, or more likely, to be security issues than a server vulnerability! We have designed vBSecurity with that in mind, and it's pretty comprehensive in what it helps defend against. You can take a look at the full feature list here and also ask why something is or isn't included!
In a departure from the usual vBSecurity currently has a special low price that will last only through the beta period. I've not decided what the final price will be yet, but it'll be higher than it is now. If it's something you're interested in you'll probably want to grab it before it goes gold!
In other news there have been small updates to vBNavTabs and Thread Ratings adding a few tweaks and new features, as well as bug fixes. You can read about them here, here and here.
Lastly, Another thanks to everyone who got AJAX Threads voted as Mod of the Month for November over at vBulletin.org - In celebration all of our MOTM winning mods (Ajax Threads, vBQuiz and Advanced Post Thanks/Likes) are 15% off this month. Simply use the coupon code MOTM to get your discount!
Thanks to you guys vBArcade is up for nomination this month now - you should go check out the vBulletin Mod of the Month poll for December and vote for whichever is your favourite! All of the coders nominated (including us) appreciate votes! Apologies if i'm getting boring with this MOTM stuff btw guys, I appreciate you putting up with it =P

So the big news this week is vBSecurity coming out, I've felt for a long time that the lack of protection and tracking for security breaches from within, or social engineering, is something vBulletin could be doing a better job with. My personal favourite part of the new system is the ability to receive warnings when certain things happen (lots of failed logins from an IP for instance) and to be able to use the new logging system to easily see who has been changing what settings - and what exactly they've been doing. It's a great tool for tracking staff abuse as well and I think you guys will love it.
Belazor has done a lot of back-end type security stuff as well that is more his speciality so the mod should be pretty wide-ranging in it's awesomeness =D.
At the moment i'm going over the design images @Dylan has sent me for the planned layout for his new mod based on our preliminary discussions on it over the past few days. He always does a great job of understanding exactly what i'm looking for without requiring too much back and forth, so at the moment i'm just kinda looking for little flaws so he knows I've actually looked at the images and not just gone "oh yeah, those are fine" haha.
Thanks to everyone who asked after me last week when i blogged about my health issues - it was appreciated guys =).
Thanks to everyone for reading, as always I look forward to your comments and questions below!
