DBTech News

The biggest news this week is likely the departure of @David from the DBTech team. David is starting college and it was mutually decided that as he would not have the required time to adequately support his products that he would leave the team. All of us here at DragonByte Tech wish David the best in his future endeavours.

Davids existing products will be taken over by @Dylan (vBDownloads) and @Belazor (vBNotifications, Random Questions, User Status and Moods). We do not anticipate this having any major effect on the upgrade cycle for these products. Please make allowances for the short transition period required for Dylan and Belazor to get into the swing of supporting these products.

In other news the Closed Beta for vBArcade is going great. New features are being added on an almost daily basis and we have had literally hundreds of feedback posts from our testers helping us improve it before release - a big thanks to those testers, they're doing a great job.

Whats Going On
@Belazor is entering the home stretch for the new vBEC internal Beta which we hope to be ready within the next week
@Dylan is working on a new project which we can't discuss quite yet
@Darkwaltz4 is working like a mad man on the awesome vBArcade.

Coming Soon
vBArcade will hopefully still be released as an open beta in the first half of September, it depends when @Darkwaltz4 stops adding cool stuff to it.
vBEC v2 is still on track to be on DBT by Sep 1st
We now have 2 secret projects on the go, both of which should see the light of day late Sep/early Oct

Decado's Corner
So this part of the blog is actually a little awkward this week to be honest, but i've decided to treat it as a little place where I put my personal opinion, regardless of propriety. A lot of my week has been taken up with staffing issues - yet another XF coder has fallen through the cracks and i'm starting to feel like there are genuinely no suitable coders out there, I think this is the 4th now =(.

Obviously there has been the David issue as well, the truth is that I've been trying to get David to improve his support response time for quite a while now and when he decided to go to college we had to make a hard decision that it was better to get the other guys who were meeting their support obligations to take them over. It's a shame because when David was motivated he was a rather good coder, such is life I guess. There's no urgent need to replace David as Fillip and Dylan are more than capable of taking over those projects, but we will be looking for people to expand the coding team for sure.

There are a few things with the new VBEC you guys will love, and that I would love to tell you about, but alas it must remain secret for the time being! I'm looking forward to us getting this block done and getting back onto product updates through winter as there are a number of mods we have some great plans and suggestions for ^.^

Thanks again for reading and I look forward to all of your comments =)

Well that is a shame that @David will not be a part of the team. But I do wish him the best in all his endeavors and hope all goes well for him.

I wish I knew coding a bit better so I could help out with the mods, but I can only hack and slash them. I have tried to code some stuff but I never get anywhere .

It really sucks that yet another XF coder has fallen through the cracks. Hopefully someone will work out, as I believe it would benefit the XF community and DBT as well. Maybe once DBT has one good coder for XF mods on board, more will follow, as the word spreads between the coder base there.

I would like to thank @Darkwaltz4 for all the hard work he has put into the arcade mod over the past 2 weeks. I would also like to thank, @Trekkan @Freekoid @legionaire @DxtGaming @Bravo @E.T.‎ and @techieanalyst @reeshe for all the bug reports and additional feature request over the past 2 weeks while helping with the arcade beta.

As the first ever support oriented staff here I will keep helping the members with issues that I can. The longer I go on here the more I become familiar with the workings of the mods, and only will improve more as time goes on.

    I agree with Ozzy.

David has helped me before with vbDownloads and I've a lot of respect for him

However, I strongly believe @Dylan will proceed with the quality of vbDownloads and I'm very curious about the new secret project ( will you guys ever stop ? : )

Also my compliments for @Darkwaltz4, he is really working as a mad man and I'm one of the happy persons who've already seen vbArcade working, and it's really fantastic.

And @Ozzy47....., what can I tell......, I think this guy is never sleep

Keep up the good work DBT team, you're all great !!

I received a notice today from vb.org that ibProArcade has been put in quarantine due to some security issue. It would be great timing to try out that public beta...

Indeed it is perfect timing to get a public beta out sooner rather than later, as many people will be wanting to jump ship to a new arcade with the vb.org news today.

While it would be nice to be able to release the arcade now, it just is not feasable. DBT never would release a unfinished or untested product just to reap the befits of another mods short comings.

It is not new at all
ibProArcade can be exploited in some ways

and current arcade from DB is awesome but I think that it will be released when the coder feel it is ready for release
