Hello Dragons!

Happy new year!

This week, we're making Release Candidate 1 of DragonByte SEO available, as well as releasing DragonByte Classifieds Release Candidate 2 and a Forum Ads bugfix.

News

Announcements

The big announcement this week is the Release Candidate 1 of DragonByte SEO, which represents the last major feature update in our initial release of DBSEO. Of course, it doesn't stop there; we have plenty of ideas and thoughts for the future, as well as continuing to receive excellent feature suggestions from you guys.

RC1 adds Social Sharing Buttons, powered by AddThis! Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Reddit, Pinterest and LinkedIn are supported, and can be turned on/off. There is also a global off switch (defaults to off), if your forum has no interest in using social sharing buttons or you already use an existing solution.

You are able to integrate social sharing buttons above and below the post list in threads, the blog entry in blogs and the message list in social groups. You are also able to add the buttons inside each post, blog comment or social group message.

Each display location has its own button display style, so you could for instance add buttons with a counter (displaying how many people shared this content) above and below posts, and small buttons inside each post.

We've also added "convenience features", with an option to disable the link to the DBSEO AdminCP as well as a direct link back to the vB ACP.

Releases

DragonByte SEO v1.0.0 Release Candidate 1 (Open Beta) has been released. This version adds Social Sharing buttons, a toggle for the DBSEO AdminCP footer link, a direct link back to the vB ACP from inside the DBSEO ACP, and adds a limiter on the number of external URL titles that are fetched when users make a new post. Over half a dozen bugs have also been addressed.

DragonByte Classifieds v1.0.0 Release Candidate 2 (Open Beta) has been released. This version adds the ability to feature a listing after it's been posted, a usergroup permission to see buyer info on listings and the ability to archive listings. Additionally, this release contains over a dozen bugfixes and changes.

Forum Ads v1.0.1 Patch Level 1 has been released, fixing an issue with keywords not integrating into posts correctly.

Belazor's Corner

I hope everyone had a good Xmas Personally, I celebrated Xmas in the traditional Viking way, i.e. pillaging and eating delicious lamb meat.

In DBTech news, the social sharing feature is the last to be added to DBSEO before we call it Gold; we left it for last, because our customers expressed a desire to focus on "core" SEO features. Sharing content across social media has become an increasingly important part of any sites marketing and SEO strategy. If your users deem your content worthy of sharing, DBSEO will grant them the ability to do so, quickly and easily

For the future, we definitely intend to focus on features that directly improve the SEO aspect of the forum, as we can look at new and innovative ideas that have never before been seen in SEO modifications for forums.

In closing, let me wish you all a happy New Year! We hope you've had an excellent 2013 and that you will be safe during the festivities
