Belazor's Corner

The response to our free Two-Factor Authentication mod has been pretty positive, I'm pretty happy with how that turned out. I've even badgered most of the DBTech staff to add an authenticator to their account, if any of you have installed it on your forums you should probably badger your staff too

I'm thinking of expanding it to include a "Paranoid Mode" where every time you authorise a new IP address, all previous authorisations will be revoked. My reasoning is that IP spoofing (tricking a site into thinking their IP matches that of a staff member) is a form of attack that this mod currently doesn't protect against, whereas removing previously authorised networks would make such an attack more difficult to execute.

On the flipside, it will mean that people who browse their site via a mobile network as well as their home network will need to re-authorise each time they switch networks. I can't make it a per-user setting because it would be a simple task for an attacker to disable this, so it would need to be global.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!

Keep in mind users behind a proxy. Such as when I'm at work, my IP changes constantly on the outside and the only way I can even stay logged into a website such as DBT is the "remember me" function that saves the session info.
