DragonByte SEO v1.0.12, DragonByte Classifieds v1.1.1, Branding Link Updates
by, 15th April 2014 at 01:03 (5762 Views)
This week we have an update for DragonByte SEO, an update for Classifieds v1.1, and linkback changes for all other modifications.
We've silently updated all our existing modifications to implement a change to our Branding links; both links back to DBTech, as well as the optional Hivelocity promotional link, are now "nofollow". This change was implemented in response to feedback from our customers, and should serve to improve search engine ratings of pages where the copyright footers are displayed.
For the majority of our products, updating the link is simply a matter of re-downloading the latest version of our mods, and re-uploading the files. Note that we have not updated older versions, so if your license has expired and you do not wish to downgrade to the Lite version in order to run the latest and greatest version, unfortunately you will not be able to take advantage of this update unless you renew your license.
If you are running the Lite version and want to disable the optional Hivelocity link, you can do so from the vBulletin Options for the modification in question. Change the "(Lite) Disable "Runs best on HiVelocity Hosting" Link" setting to "Yes" and save, and the link will be removed from your footer.
DragonByte SEO v1.0.12 has been released, introducing a length limit to the Meta Keywords tag. Additionally, all outstanding bugs have been fixed. Read the full details here.
DragonByte Classifieds v1.1.1 has been released, fixing over half a dozen bugs as well as introduces a couple improvements to the Feedback system. Read the full details here.

As you've noticed from our Announcements section, we've made a change to the branding links in our mods. But what the announcements section didn't say was how long it actually took to make those changes.
Actually updating the files on my development server is just a search & replace in all files in a folder, right? No big deal. Then I have to upload the changed files to the relevant release folders. Considering I have 89 separate project folders on my development server, even with my file comparison tools it takes a long time to get all the files where they need to go.
After that was done, I had to generate about 70 .zip files to be released across ~100 vBulletin.org threads. We have 110 releases on vBulletin.org at this time, and nearly all of them needed an update.
PS: Matt ( @Mokonzi ) will be working reduced hours for the next few weeks, so the support response times on his mods may be a little slower than usual. Chances are it will be mostly unnoticeable, though.
