Announcements

I'm happy to be able to announce that we're currently working on a project to boost password security for vB3/vB4 forums by implementing Blowfish encryption for passwords. The mod will work by removing the old, insecure MD5-only password and instead store a more secure version of the password when the user successfully logs in after this mod has been installed.

It will come with the option of configuring your own password key strength (increasing the processing time in exchange for a more secure password), and will work with the "Remember Me" checkbox and all other vB features.

Such a mod will naturally require a lot of testing, so don't expect this to be released within the next week or two. We'll be going with a staged release schedule; testing on my development computer, testing it on a private site of ours, and then testing it on DBTech itself.

Belazor's Corner

I've had a lot of fun working on the passwords mod, it's nice to be able to take some time off our regularily scheduled programming and just do something cool once in a while. Hopefully it'll work correctly and be useful to you guys as well

In other news, DragonByte SEO Lite should be arriving soon. We're looking to get the maximum possible amount of testing out of the mod, and this week's update shows that was a good idea. Hopefully this has squashed the last remaining bugs and we can release Lite soon!

If you have any ideas for what mods we should update next, feel free to leave them in the comments section below
