DBTech News

The big news this week is our first ever Pay What You Want promotion. This allows you to purchase a lifetime license of our Infopanels product for any price you want over $5. Like the product but don't have much money? Pay the $5. Got money lying around and want to support DBTech and encourage us to do more PWYW promotions in future? Pay $500! Fall somewhere in the middle? Pay the usual cost of $64.95! Depending on the response (read as: we don't lose too much money) we may do PWYW promotions on a semi-regular basis for major holidays and special occasions.

To use the Pay What You Want promotion you can either add an infopanels lifetime license to your cart, and then edit the price you want to pay on the checkout page, or you can directly enter the price you want to pay in the new PWYW sideblock and add it to your cart from there. 1 license per customer.

In semi-related news we have extended our Essentials Bundle deal for another week due to popular demand. This bundle contains the 6 mods we feel are essential for every forum: vBOptimise, vBDonate, vBMail, vBSecurity, Advanced Post Thanks/Like and Advanced User Tagging. It has all 6 lifetime licenses available for a special price of $299 - the usual price is $600. Even if you already own one or two of the mods you will make massive savings by buying this bundle, which is our biggest discount ever. It now expires midnight GMT on Jan 11th.

We are also happy to announce the release of vBAnswers Lite! vBAnswers is a yahoo! Answers style product that lets members ask questions of your community and vote on the best and most helpful responses. It can also be easily adapted to be used as a support system with a variety of options for making questions private alongside dozens of other effective features. Read all about it here.

One of our 6 free New Years Contest mods - DBTech Member Map - has received an update and is now v1.1. The update brings two highly requested features - The ability for people to manually re-position their pins (down to the exact street they live on) and the ability for people to opt-out of the map. Read all about it here.

Remember that our New Year Contest Bundle offer is still running until Midnight GMT on Jan 8th - this offer allows you to get all 6 contest mods with branding free for FREE with every purchase over $150 - including the Essentials bundle. How does 13 mods, 7 with branding free and 1 designed purely to reduce the branding footprint of the other 6 for $299 sound to you guys? sounds pretty amazing to me. Just add the bundle to your cart and make sure the coupon code NEWYEAR is entered.

Speaking of the New Year Contest Bundle - there is now a poll up where you can vote on your favorite mod from the group. DBTech will reward the winning coder and you guys get to feel warm and fuzzy inside that you helped out someone who gave you something for free! You can vote on the sideblock on forumhome, or here.

Last but not least, there are also upcoming changes to our loyalty system that you can read about in Decado's Corner - we think you'll like the changes!

Decado's Corner

I'll lead with the loyalty system changes. We are introducing a new concept - loyalty points. The plan is for every $10 you spend, you will receive 100 loyalty points. Every 500 loyalty points will put you in a new bracket to get an additional discount on every purchase you make, and every 5,000 loyalty points you get free DBTech points which can be used as currency to purchase mods with.

There may be other ways to earn extra loyalty points in future - from contests to certain purchases/coupons giving bonus loyalty points. The maximum discount won't change - it'll still be 35%, but the numbers involved will.

So what does this mean for you? First of all it means a lot of you will be receiving free DBTech points to spend as you please for nothing - we will be sending these out based on how many loyalty points you have already earned.

Secondly, no one will lose any of their current discount %age. In the event your loyalty points are lower than required to hit the discount you CURRENTLY get, your current discount will take precedence. You will get that discount until your loyalty points would earn you a bigger discount, then those take over.

Basically most of you are going to get some free money, and everyone will be as well off as they are now, or better off, with the new loyalty discount %ages. Not bad, eh?

When will the changes take place? Chances are they will take place some time in the next week, you don't need to do anything to take part, you'll just notice a "loyalty points" number appear in a few places and some new explanatory text showing the different limits and benefits.

Our site redesign should be going live in the next couple of weeks, along with the vB5 Pro mods. We've already sent out the first batch of surveys (only 20 customers were selected out of thousands so please don't be offended if you didn't receive one - and please do reply if you did, I chose you personally) and started work on the directory system I have been discussing in other blogs.

Oh and we've started collecting quotes from some of our bigger customers that we will be displaying to show new and existing customers what some of the biggest sites and companies on the internet think of DBTech products - we have quotes from people like Gearbox Software, BestOfMedia LLC and various respected names in the vBulletin/forums industry.

As always I look forward to your comments and feedback below ladies and gentlemen!

Thanks for reading,

Iain & The DBTech Team

    Iain & Team,

I run a completely free board for my users (just about to purchase vB Donate which will obviously help with the purchase of mods from yourselves in future), and so most mods are paid for out of my pocket - so it's great news to hear of the upcoming new loyalty points! You guys make the best mods, so it's more encouragement to buy these!!
